Some Altadena memories. Over the course of many years I had the pleasure of visiting the famed Zorthian ranch. A truly wondrous place that houses the creative spirit of that foothill community. As a living entity it grows and changes and blossoms. It was recently burned by the Eaton fire but it will be back, the spirit is too strong to fade away. I had an opportunity to photograph its patriarch, Jirayr Zorthian, and many years later his beautiful muse, Jennifer Fabos Patton at the ranch. It all comes to mind on this first day of spring 2025 as life wakes up again. I wish the best for their creative community and look forward to once again feeling that spirit.

The Altadena fire takes off on the wildest winds I think I’ve ever felt. This was shot at about 7:06 PM. A huge swath of Altadena is under evacuation orders as of 9 PM and the winds are expected to increase. Stay safe my Altadena neighbors.

Update - as of 9 AM Wednesday the area around Lake Ave north of New York Dr. has burned.
