This paper is based on the social development work that was conducted on the Jewish community that live in Tunisia. To be able to come up with a good report of the findings, an understanding of the different cultural diversity was required. Interaction with this community was also a necessary piece of filling of this report. Most of the Jewish community that lives in Tunisia lives in the capital of Tunis. Most of the people within the community support and observe the laws of Kashrut. There are also restaurants that the community mainly uses due to the differences that they have with the other communities that live in the country. Most of the people in the community live in isolation from the other communities and therefore have been able to preserve cultural practices. They mainly have an undiluted form of Judaism where the whole community is strictly observant of the religious practices that make this community different from the other communities that live in the country. There is still synagogue that is used as places of worship by the communities. The daily practices that this community is involved mainly entails the practices of the other Jewish communities in other parts of the world.
The Contexts of Social Work in Tunisia
To be able to understand how the Jewish community lived in Tunisia the group had to read various books and journals of how they were able to settle in Tunisia. This helped as the group was able to come into contact with this community. It was important to the group to be able to come up with a plan that would enable us to deal with the possible language barriers that would be faced. The other issues that were important and needed to be taken care of were the travel arrangements as well as the visa permits as this was to happen in a different country with totally a different kind of a jurisdiction.
For the group to be able to get information on the social development of this community, the group decided to meet the elders of the community. Due to the meeting the group carried out with the elders of the community enabled the decisions of how the information would be obtained to be easier. There was also a lot of traveling that was involved in this whole social development in Tunisia. This was taken into consideration due to the different group of the communities that live in different parts of the country. This was even though the study mainly focused on the capital of the country which is Tunis. On a national level, the community relation with the government was taken into consideration. This included issues such as social, political and economic and on if the Jewish community felt more involved by the national government.
The group was able to make arrangements with the Jewish community that lives in Tunis. Through the arrangements the group would have an easier time in the social development they were to carry out and also be able to leave a positive mark on this community. The trade unions in the country were also consulted as the group understood that they cared for the social and economic status of the community.
